What Hot Tub Electrical Installation Requires

Most hot tubs require a dedicated 240V, 50–60A circuit run directly from your electrical panel to the spa location.
GFCI Protection
A GFCI breaker is required by NEC code for all hot tub circuits — it cuts power instantly if a ground fault is detected, preventing electrocution.
Disconnect Box
A lockable disconnect box must be installed within sight of the hot tub but at least 5 feet away, allowing power to be cut for service.
Equipotential Bonding
